Supercell, a leading mobile game developer known for hit titles like Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, partnered with us to create a brand activation for their popular mobile game Brawl Stars at San Diego Comic Con.
To bring to life the game's dystopian theme park setting as an immersive experience under the tagline "Welcome to Starr Park - A place you'll never want to leave." This activation aimed to engage existing fans and attract new players by creating a memorable, shareable experience that embodied the game's unique aesthetic and mysterious lore.
Working in collaboration with Comic Con veterans GDX, we designed a comprehensive fan experience that combined interactive elements, themed environments, and character interactions to create an authentic connection to the Brawl Stars universe.
Fans first met the living cactus Brawler Spike on the San Diego boardwalk, creating an initial touchpoint that built anticipation. Guests were then greeted by an eerily positive tour guide, setting the tone for the park's unsettling yet playful atmosphere.
In partnership with theme park specialists Future Colossal, we created a dark ride experience that transported guests to the park. The ride featured planned stops in Frontier World with character meet-and-greets, followed by an unexpected "hijacking" by Spike, adding an element of surprise and adventure.
Upon arrival at the colorful yet unsettling Starr Park, guests encountered Fun Enforcers who established the mission: collect scattered gems that were driving park visitors mad. Guests participated in minigames and challenges to collect and contain gems, mirroring gameplay elements from Brawl Stars. After completing their mission, guests received exclusive merchandise at the gift shop before returning to Comic Con.
To create value for fans, the activation also featured themed photo opportunities, custom F&B and exclusive merchandise from Supercells partners.
