Studio Secret Cinema partnered with VT Pro to create an immersive, terrifying prom night experience to celebrate the launch of the fourth installment in Netflix’s Fear Street film series. This 45-minute interactive horror experience transformed the Fonda Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard into Shadyside High School, bringing the franchise's unique blend of '80s nostalgia and slasher horror to life for thousands of fans.
Working in close collaboration with our partners at VT Pro Design, we created an experience to die for. We crafted an original narrative that lived within the world. Designed intersecting storylines and explorable horror experiences throughout the venue. To deliver this the SSC team headed stateside, where we managed casting, rehearsals and on site direction.
The experience centered around three core pillars: '80s Glam, Slasher Gore, and Classic Prom. Guests navigated through a realistic Shadyside High gymnasium. You could dance to your favourite 80’s hits or explore if you dare… You might just find: a beheading the AV club, a mutilated cheerleader in the bathroom, a disemboweled janitor or be chased through the library by the killer. The whole experience culminated in a spectacular finale with practical effects.
The Fear Street Prom Night experience was a resounding success. Thousands of Fear Street fans attended the event, generated social media buzz with highly shareable, shocking moments. We also curated a red carpet experience for the film's cast. All of this reinforced Fear Street's position as Netflix's premier YA horror franchise.
